Basic
Services :
The following is a list and explanation of
the processes included in our Material Management Services. These
services will be performed through our Service Centers using a centralized
approach.
Step 1:
Material Quantity Estimates
The first step is to determine the actual quantity of each flooring
product for your project. Using advanced technology, our expert
Inside Edge estimators will provide a quantity estimate for each
product that includes a waste factor and any required or requested
overage.
An accurate material estimate is critical
to the flooring process. Many manufacturers and flooring contractors
overestimate the quantity of materials needed to complete a project
in order to avoid a shortage during the installation process. Since
all materials are sent directly to your jobsite, you may not be aware
that you are paying for additional materials above and beyond the
job requirements. Inside Edge will calculate a minimal amount of
extra materials that should be sent to each location.
It is equally
important to make sure that an adequate amount of materials are provided
to avoid a shortage. A shortage of materials can delay moving
into a new facility or opening a new store. Like Goldilocks, you
don't want too much or too little. The quantity has to be just right.
If we are responsible for a mistake on your
quantity estimate, it will be our responsibility to get additional
materials to the jobsite to meet your construction schedules. If
this should occur, you
will not pay our management fees on the extra materials needed for that
project. You will only be responsible for the actual cost of the
materials required to complete your project.
Step
2:
Material Summary
Once Inside Edge has completed the material quantity estimate, we will provide
you with a material summary which details the quantity and unit price
of each material to be ordered, manufacturer information, and the
total cost for all materials. Although you will be purchasing the
flooring products directly from the manufacturer, Inside Edge will
manage this step for you as part of our service offering. Because
every product is under our control, we can ensure that your flooring
materials arrive at your facilities in a timely manner.
Step 3:
Material Ordering
The next step in the procurement process is ordering the materials. Our basic
service package requires you to order all the flooring directly
from the manufacturer. (You may choose to have Inside Edge purchase
some or all of your materials for an additional management fee, as
outlined in the Purchasing Services fact sheet.) We will manage this
process by consolidating all of your purchase orders for each project
and working with suppliers to make sure all products are ordered
and shipped to the jobsite in a timely manner to meet your construction
schedules.
To ensure that suppliers forecast and maintain adequate inventory levels
for your upcoming projects, we will provide them with a list of projects,
locations, contact information, required ship dates and completion
dates for each project.
Your purchase orders will become a contractual relationship between you and
the manufacturer. With Material Management Services, Inside Edge
will not assume the cost, risk or liability associated with the
actual purchase of any of the materials.
Step 4:
Material Coordination
Inside Edge will custom-design a material coordination plan for your specific
needs with the goal of minimizing the number of material shipments
to each project location. We will use suppliers that can provide
multiple products; we will utilize centralized warehouse locations
to consolidate products; and we may ship miscellaneous products
to your larger suppliers for delivery consolidation. We will
ensure that all materials are delivered to meet your schedules
and in good condition.
Step 5:
Material Shipping & Delivery
Inside Edge will handle all material shipping and delivery functions
as part of our basic services. We will utilize our dedicated team
of independent trucking brokers who are experienced in shipping
and delivering various flooring products from different points
of origin to customers with multiple facilities across the country.
Inside Edge will coordinate the delivery of all flooring materials
with the General Contractor or your representative to ensure the
products are delivered to the site or designated facility at the
appropriate time.
Step
6:
Invoice Management
Once the products have been shipped to your jobsite, the manufacturers will send
invoices for your materials to Inside Edge. We will manage
this process by receiving and approving all invoices for each project
and providing them to you with a consolidated summary and
separate fee statement. Once you receive the invoices, you will
be responsible for paying each manufacturer directly within the
terms agreed upon by both parties. We will present all invoices
to you in a timely manner so that payment can be made within the
required time frame. If you choose to utilize our Purchasing Services
for any products, we will pay those material suppliers you specify,
then bill these costs plus our separate Purchasing fees.
Why
This Works
Inside Edge Material Management Services are performed by seasoned veterans of
the flooring industry. By eliminating waste and ensuring
effective coordination of materials to your jobsite, we can help
lower your procurement and delivery costs. Our business model
allows you to purchase materials directly from the manufacturer while
receiving the highest level of material management services.
Because our cost, risk and liability in actually purchasing the products
are eliminated, we are able to provide our services at a much
lower cost than traditional dealers and distributors.
