Labor and installation services
Flooring installation is one of the most challenging services to manage on a national basis. Our innovative approach combines national standardization and management with local installation and cost savings.

Your Edge
|
|
We provide the services necessary to standardize and manage installation procedures on a national basis, yet deliver substantial cost savings by allowing you to contract directly with local service providers.
|
How
It Works
We begin with a labor assessment. This allows us to understand your unique needs, thus determine ways to reduce costs and improve the quality of your flooring installation. We then develop Uniform Labor Practices (ULP) to standardize the installation process for all your facilities across the country.
Prospective contractors are selected from
our network of pre-qualified providers. To eliminate overhead, our
key service people work directly with the local contractors. We ensure
that the project is being completed as defined in the ULP and that
all work meets your expectations.
You will contract directly with the service
provider at the local level. All contractors that perform installation
services on your projects warranty and guarantee their work directly
to you. Inside Edge will not be liable for payment of invoices, nor
for any warranty, quality or service issues related to the installation.
Why It Works
Inside
Edge manages the entire installation process so you won't have
to do it internally or pay a high markup to utilize one of the
existing national distribution channels. Our centralized structure
eliminates layers of overhead and markup. You will receive the
highest level of labor management and installation services, yet
significantly reduce your costs.
As always, we follow an open-book approach.
Our fees will be clearly defined and separated from those of the
local provider. Because you will be contracting directly with the
service provider, you will always know exactly what your costs are,
with no hidden markups or fees.
Basic Services Description
The following is a list and explanation of
the basic Labor & Installation services performed through our Operations Center.
Step 1:
Labor Assessment
Inside Edge will begin by performing a comprehensive labor assessment to gain
a complete understanding of your labor and installation needs. This assessment
will include information obtained from multiple facets of your organization,
as well as your preferred list of general contractors if necessary. Upon completion
of the initial assessment, we will present an analysis of your labor and installation
process. This will include recommendations for improving the overall process
as well as specific ways to reduce cost and improve service. Key elements:
- Assessment of labor requirements for your organization on a national
basis
- Assessment of problems encountered during past installations
- Recommendations
and specifications to improve your installation process
- Recommendations
for reducing your labor service costs on a national basis
- Recommendations
for extending the life cycle of your flooring products
to lower costs
- Suggestions for reducing the amount of time needed
internally to manage this process
Step 2:
Uniform Labor Practices (ULP)
After completing the assessment, we will develop Uniform Labor Practices (ULP),
an Inside Edge exclusive. The ULP is a specific protocol designed to standardize
your installation process on a national basis. We will clearly define the following:
- Scope of work needed to complete your projects
- Special installation
instructions
- Contact information
- Material lists and quantity estimates
- Floor
plans
- Phasing plans
- Training and consultation
- Additional information
required to ensure higher quality installation and
service
Step 3:
Material Quantity Estimates
We will prepare a material quantity estimate for each project to ensure that you get an accurate bid from each service provider. Inside Edge will supply the quantity estimate to all independent contractors as part of the ULP package. All service providers will be required to verify quantity estimates prior to submitting pricing on your project.
Step 4:
Site Visit/Job Walk-Through
Contractors who wish to provide labor pricing for your jobs will be required to do a site visit or job walk-through to verify all field dimensions, existing conditions, floor prep concerns and any other conditions related to the specific jobsite. For existing buildings, this will be completed prior to the submission of pricing on your job.
Step 5:
Competitive Pricing
Each service provider will receive a complete ULP, including floor plans and material quantity estimates. This will ensure accurate pricing and that the entire scope of work is included in each proposal. Inside Edge will make every effort to obtain competitive pricing using our network of pre-qualified independent contractors. All pricing will be quoted directly to you through Inside Edge so we can consolidate bids and present them to you with a detailed analysis. If you choose to obtain competitive pricing through your own sources, you may use this information.
Step 6:
Service Provider Selection
We will prepare a service provider analysis, which will include a qualifications summary of each company along with the actual labor estimates. All contractors in our network meet our requirements for expertise and past service record.
Step 7:
Project Scheduling
Once you have selected a service provider and executed a contract, Inside Edge will work with you and the local provider to establish a schedule and start date for your project. Your contract will include labor pricing and the defined scope of work, including material quantities, as described in the ULP.
Step
8:
Project Management
Inside Edge will provide a high level of project management during the installation of your commercial flooring so you won't have to do it internally. Our oversight and coordination will ensure that the overall process meets your expectations. Much of the day-to-day project management, including daily schedules, phasing plan goals, quality issues and approval of change orders, will occur at the local level.
Step
9:
Project Sign-Off
At the completion of the project, the service provider will be required to complete a job walk-through with you or your representative, to obtain a sign-off
ensuring that the project was completed to your satisfaction. Any change orders will also be finalized at this time. The contractor must submit the final sign-off with the invoice in order to receive payment.
Step
10:
Invoice Management
Final invoices from all service providers are submitted to Inside Edge. These invoices will include all costs associated with the original scope of work along with any approved change orders. We will approve all invoices and submit them to you, along with our separate management fees, for payment. Unless otherwise noted in your contract, all invoices for labor services must be paid within 30 days. Because you are contracting directly with local service providers, Inside Edge will not be financially liable for the payment of any invoices. Exception: to minimize labor & installation transactions on a national basis, you may contract for Invoice Consolidation. We will pay each local service provider, then bill you for the sum total plus a 3% management fee.
